Found a huge version of that photo. I don’t know much about the Beetle, but t hat’s most likely a DC-3 on the right, and a Bristol Superfreighter with the high wing in the background. The four-engine plane in the far back is an Avro York . According to one source, it was taken at Berlin Tempelhof in 1954. What a great shot!

but can it tow?

Might be some issues towing a 747. Namely, the hitch being a different hookup standard.

JK, I’m just jealous, I’d love to know about that stuff but it just hasn’t gripped me to that extent. Maybe that’ll change, who knows.

My pleasure, from a proud nerd! I had to do a little digging to ID those planes in the back. I recognized them, but wasn’t sure of the type. I googled “postwar British airliner.” Most of the British airliners of the 50s were converted from WWII bombers. The Brits had a lot of catching up to do in the area of civilian aviation, since they had put most of their efforts into bombers during the war.
